Why this part is needed

Stay focused on the road while the car handles the wipers. This sensor detects rain on the glass and starts or speeds up the wipers automatically. It boosts safety at night and in sudden showers, keeps visibility steady, and reduces driver fatigue. Perfect for city traffic and highway trips.

How it works

Mounted behind the rearview mirror, it uses an infrared LED and photodiode. Dry glass reflects more light; water scatters it. The module measures this change and sends a signal to the body/wiper controller (LIN/CAN). The unit needs a clear gel pad and clean windshield to read droplets correctly.

What happens if it’s broken

Auto-wiper mode won’t respond, wipes may be random or stuck on high, or a warning appears. You’ll need manual control in rain, visibility drops, and the gel pad may leave streaks. Replace if the lens is cracked, the pad is cloudy, or after windshield replacement. Quick plug-in setup, then calibrate via vehicle menu if required. ✅
