Why this part is needed

This kit restores tight compression, clean burn, and strong low‑end power. Rings seal the gap between piston and cylinder, so the engine keeps pressure where it belongs. If your work truck uses oil, smokes on start, or feels weak under load, fresh rings are the smart fix and protect the catalyst and turbo from oily fumes.

How it works ⚙️

The set includes compression rings and an oil control ring. Under combustion, the upper rings expand to seal the cylinder wall, turning fuel into torque instead of blow‑by. The oil ring scrapes extra oil off the liner and sends it back through drain holes, leaving only a thin, protective film.

What happens if worn or broken

Expect blue smoke, low compression, hard starts, rough idle, and carboned plugs. Fuel use rises, the crankcase pressurizes, and leaks show at seals. Prolonged driving can score the bore, overheat pistons, and clog EGR/DPF systems. Power drops, especially under towing or uphill.

Tech notes for a lasting repair

Measure bore taper and out‑of‑round, hone to proper cross‑hatch, and set ring end‑gap to spec. Stagger ring openings, clean ring grooves, and verify drain holes are clear.
