Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal for Mitsubishi Engines ️

Keep engine oil where it belongs. This OEM-grade rear main seal matches factory specs for selected Mitsubishi powertrains (ref: ME034976). Built from heat‑resistant elastomer with a preloaded garter spring, it delivers stable sealing at idle and high rpm, protecting the flywheel/flexplate area and reducing mess under the car.

Why this part is needed

It closes the gap between the crankshaft and rear cover, holding oil pressure inside the block. A healthy seal prevents oil from reaching the clutch or torque converter, keeps the starter and sensor area clean, and helps maintain correct oil level for bearing life.

How it works

A flexible lip rides on the crank journal while a spring maintains constant tension. Micro-ribs on the lip pump oil back inward as the shaft spins, and a dust lip blocks contaminants. Correct interference fit in the housing ensures leak‑free operation.

If the seal fails ⚠️

  • Oil drip from the bellhousing or rear of engine
  • Burning oil smell, clutch slip or stained flexplate
  • Falling oil level, risk of bearing damage

Pro install tips ✅

Inspect and polish the crank surface if grooved. Clean the bore, lightly oil the inner lip, keep the outer edge dry if specified. Use a proper driver to seat square—do not hammer. Verify PCV/breather function; excess crankcase pressure will force leaks. Replace whenever the gearbox is out for clutch or converter service.
