Why you need it
This component is the heart of a manual transmission clutch pack. It clamps the disc to the flywheel, sending engine torque to the gearbox with stable grip. How it works
A heat‑treated diaphragm spring applies precise clamping force to the clutch disc. Pressing the pedal lets the release bearing push the fingers, unloading pressure so gears change cleanly. The rigid steel cover, balanced for low vibration, resists heat and flex; vents and mass help heat dissipation and reduce chatter under heavy loads.

Signs include slip under load, burnt smell, rising RPM with weak acceleration, shudder on take‑off, hard or low pedal, and grinding shifts. Continued driving may glaze the disc, blue or warp the flywheel, stress the release bearing, and spike fuel use.
