Information

AC compressor drive belt for Nissan β€” steady cooling performance

This belt powers the air-conditioning compressor from the engine crankshaft, keeping cabin air cold and defogging fast. A fresh belt prevents slip, protects pulleys, and delivers quiet, efficient operation on long trips and in city heat.

Why you need it

Without a healthy belt, the compressor cannot spin. That means no refrigerant flow, weak or zero cooling, and poor windshield demist in humid weather. A quality EPDM belt resists heat, oil, and ozone for long life.

How it works βš™οΈ

The belt loops around the crank and compressor pulleys (and sometimes an idler/tensioner). Correct tension lets the ribs grip grooves, transferring torque so the compressor pumps refrigerant and delivers cold air.

If worn or broken ❗

Signs include start-up squeal, glazed ribs, cracks, frayed edges, or a burnt rubber smell. If it snaps, AC stops instantly; strands can whip nearby belts or sensors. On shared setups, misalignment can shorten alternator belt life too.

Tech notes & install tips

Match rib count and length, set tension to spec, and recheck after run-in. Replace a noisy tensioner or rough idler to protect the new belt.
