Land Rover

Land Rover is the British manufacturer specialized in the production of premium off-road cars. The first vehicle of this brand was released in 1948. Enterprising Wilkes brothers managed to get permission from British government to manufacture cars at the factory, which produced engines for military equipment during the Second World War. Off-roaders originally were viewed only as experimental models, but great interest to these cars made Wilkes brothers to review the policy of the company. In 1950, Land Rover equipped vehicles with all-wheel drive system. Reliable and efficient, these cars were perfectly suited for farmers and municipal and emergency services. In 1959, the 250000th car rolled off the production line.

In 2008, Land Rover has been acquired by the Indian company Tata Motors, which also owns the Jaguar brand.
