Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Tank for Mitsubishi 4x4s
This reservoir stores and conditions hydraulic oil for the steering assist. It feeds the pump a steady, bubble‑free supply, helps trap fine debris, and stabilizes fluid temperature. Without a healthy tank, the system can’t keep the pump primed, and steering effort rises—especially at parking speeds.
How it works ⚙️
Return oil enters the upper chamber, where internal baffles slow the flow and a mesh section helps catch particles. Air separates and vents through the cap, while degassed fluid exits the lower outlet to the pump. The dipstick in the cap lets you check level hot or cold, keeping assist smooth and quiet.
If the reservoir is failing
Cracks or hard, clogged internals cause pump whine, foamy fluid, jerky or heavy steering at idle, fluid leaks, and premature pump wear. Long term, metal debris circulates, seals suffer, and the steering gear can score.
Replacement tips
Replace if you see sludge, discoloration, or seepage. Swap is simple: clamp hoses, remove tank, refit, fill with spec PSF/ATF, then bleed by turning wheel lock‑to‑lock. Inspect hoses and clamps; renew if swollen or brittle.
