Reliable Cooling System Pressure Cap

This cooling system cap is a small part with a big job: it seals the radiator/filler neck and keeps the coolant under the correct pressure. Proper pressure raises the boiling point of antifreeze, helping the engine stay cool in traffic, on hills, and during hot weather. A good cap also supports quick coolant recovery from the overflow tank after the engine cools down.

How It Works

Inside, a calibrated spring valve holds pressure to a set limit. When pressure climbs too high, the valve opens to release excess into the overflow bottle. As the engine cools, a vacuum valve allows coolant to return, preventing hose collapse and reducing air pockets.

If It’s Worn or Broken ⚠️

A weak seal or tired spring can cause coolant loss, overheating, boiling in the reservoir, sweet coolant smell, heater performance drops, and early radiator/hoses stress. In severe cases, the engine may overheat and risk head gasket damage.
