Front Transfer Case Cover Oil Seal ️
This seal sits at the front area of the transfer case cover and its main job is to keep gear oil inside the drivetrain housing while blocking dust and water from entering. It is needed because the transfer case works under constant rotation and heat; without a tight seal, oil will escape fast and the unit will not stay properly lubricated.
How it works ⚙️
The rubber sealing lip rides on the rotating shaft surface and forms a thin oil film that reduces friction. A metal outer shell keeps the seal pressed firmly in the cover bore, so it stays stable even with vibration and temperature changes.
If the seal is damaged ❗
You may notice oil spots under the vehicle, a burning oil smell, or humming/whining from the transfer case. Low oil level leads to overheating, fast bearing wear, and can damage gears. If ignored, the drivetrain may seize or lose drive completely.
