Rear Brake Caliper Support Bracket (OE ref: MR510549) ️

Why you need this part

This bracket is the solid mount that keeps the rear floating caliper perfectly aligned to the brake disc. It centers the pads, guides the slider pins, and holds everything rigid under heavy braking. On Mitsubishi SUVs that see heat, mud, and salt, the bracket can corrode or the pin bores can oval out. Replacing a tired mount restores stable, straight stops and even pad wear.

How it works

The bracket bolts to the rear knuckle and provides precision faces for the pads plus bores for the guide pins. When you press the pedal, hydraulic force moves the caliper, squeezing both pads against the rotor. The support keeps geometry true while the caliper floats smoothly on greased pins, then releases to prevent drag. Correct clearances here mean quiet, powerful braking and cooler rotors.

What happens if it’s bad ⚠️

Expect clunks or squeals, uneven pad wear (often inner pad thin), pulling, vibration, hot wheel, longer stops, or sticking after release. Seized or worn pin holes cause one-sided braking; cracked ears or stripped threads are unsafe. If the mount is corroded, bent, or the pins won’t slide freely, replace it immediately .

Tech tips βœ…

Clean the knuckle, use new slider boots and high-temp silicone brake grease, and torque bracket bolts to spec with medium threadlocker. Check rotor runout and pad fit. Bleeding is not needed unless you open the hydraulic line.
