Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield (Front Inner Fender Liner)
This front wheelhouse shield is a tough plastic/rubber guard fitted inside the front fender area. Itβs needed to protect the engine bay edge, suspension parts, wiring, and body seams from water, mud, salt, and stone impact .
How It Works
The shield clips and bolts to the inner arch and bumper edge, forming a barrier between the spinning tire and the vehicle body. As the wheel throws debris outward, the liner redirects it down and away, helping reduce corrosion and keeping the arch area cleaner. It also helps smooth airflow in the wheel well for quieter driving οΈ.
What Happens If Itβs Broken
If cracked, missing, or hanging loose, road spray can soak the fender cavity and nearby components. You may notice rattling, rubbing noises on turns, faster rust around the arch, damaged harnesses, and more dirt reaching belts, pulleys, or the washer bottle area. In winter climates, salt exposure can dramatically shorten body and fastener life β οΈ.
Technician Tip
Always replace worn clips and screws with the liner to prevent vibration and tire contact β
