Air Cleaner to Throttle Body Intake Duct
This intake duct is a key rubber/plastic hose that connects the air cleaner box to the throttle body. It is needed to guide clean, measured air into the engine without leaks, helping the vehicle keep stable idle, smooth acceleration, and correct fuel economy.
How It Works
β When the engine runs, the throttle body pulls air through this duct. The duct keeps airflow sealed and steady, so sensors can read air correctly and the engine control unit can set the right air-fuel mixture. Its flexible design also absorbs engine movement and vibration, preventing cracks around the air box and throttle opening.
What Happens If Itβs Damaged
β οΈ A split, loose, or collapsed duct can cause a vacuum leak after the air filter. This may lead to rough idle, hesitation, whistling sounds, poor throttle response, higher fuel use, and a check-engine light. Dust can bypass the filter and enter the engine, speeding up wear on the throttle body and internal parts. Replacing it restores proper sealing and airflow control.
