This precision bearing supports the main drive pinion (input shaft) in the manual gearbox. It keeps the shaft centered, holds correct gear mesh, and cuts friction. With a healthy bearing, shifts are smooth, gears stay quiet, and gearbox life is long. It protects synchros, seals, and gears under heavy towing, offβroad use, and daily driving.
How it works οΈ
Rolling elements run between hardened inner and outer races, carrying radial and axial loads from the clutch and gears. The part runs in splash-lubricated transmission oil to control heat and wear. Correct internal clearance allows thermal expansion while holding tight alignment, so torque transfers cleanly from the engine to the gearbox.
What happens if it breaks
Early signs are frontβcase whine that rises with road speed, rough idle in gear, and metal shimmer in oil. Play at the input shaft can cause hard shifting, gear popβout, oil leaks, chipped teeth, or total gearbox seizure if ignored.
