Why you need it οΈ
This filter keeps your ATF clean by trapping clutch dust, metal flakes, and varnish. Clean fluid protects the valve body, solenoids, and pump, giving smooth gear changes and long gearbox life. Itβs a must during every ATF service to keep your Mitsubishi shifting like new.
How it works
Mounted in the trans pan, the pickup draws fluid through a fine media (cellulose/microfiber). The pump pulls ATF through the filter, then sends it to the valve body and clutches under stable pressure. A sealing O-ring/gasket prevents air leaks. Correct filtration means steady pressure, quiet operation, and consistent shift timing.
If itβs clogged or cracked
Expect delayed engagement, hard or slipping shifts, pump whine, overheating, or limp mode. Debris in the pan and burnt ATF are common. Running with a restricted filter starves the unit, burns clutches, and can damage the torque converter. Replace the filter and pan gasket, clean the magnet, refill with the correct Mitsubishi ATF (SP-II/SP-III), and check for leaks.
Tech tip
Always install with a new seal, torque pan bolts evenly, and recheck fluid level at operating temperature.
