Why this part is needed

This precision gasket closes the joint between the cam bearing caps and the cylinder head. It keeps pressurized oil inside the valvetrain, prevents seepage near the timing side, and maintains stable cam cap torque. It is essential when rebuilding the head, during timing service, or when tracking an engine oil leak fix around the cover area.

How it works ⚙️

An oil-resistant elastomer profile sits in the machined groove around the cam cap cluster. When the caps are torqued, the seal compresses evenly, creating a uniform barrier that blocks hot oil from escaping. The material resists heat cycles, additives, and shearing at high RPM, ensuring quiet, reliable camshaft operation.

What happens if it’s broken ❗

Oil mist or drips appear near the timing cover, belts get contaminated, there’s a burnt-oil smell, and plug wells may foul causing misfire. Over time you risk low oil level, noisy valvetrain, and cam journal scoring—costly head damage.
