    Intake Air Temperature Sensor for Mitsubishi Surge Tank ️

    This small but critical IAT sensor sits in the surge tank/plenum and tells the ECU the exact temperature of the air your engine is breathing. With correct air temp data, the ECU can balance fuel and ignition for smooth power, clean emissions, and good economy. Perfect choice for restoring factory drivability on Mitsubishi gasoline engines. ⚙️

    Why you need it

    Cold, dense air needs more fuel; hot, thin air needs less. The sensor feeds this info so the ECU can adjust fueling, timing, idle speed, and cold-start enrichment. Without it, the mix goes off and performance drops.

    How it works

    Inside is an NTC thermistor. As intake air warms, resistance falls; as it cools, resistance rises. The ECU reads that voltage change and calculates air temperature in real time. Simple, fast, reliable.

    What happens if it’s bad ⚠️

    Symptoms include hard cold starts, rough idle, hesitation, sluggish throttle, rich smell or black smoke, poor MPG, high idle, and Check Engine Light (often IAT range codes). Long term, rich running can foul plugs and damage the catalytic converter.

    Fitment & tech notes

    Typically mounted on the surge tank/plenum with a clip or small screw, 2‑pin connector. Easy DIY: disconnect battery, unplug, swap, reseat O‑ring, clear codes. Works with stock ECU maps for stable fuel trims.
