Information

Cam Timing Sensor for Mitsubishi Engines βš™οΈ

This engine position sensor is a small but very important electronic part. It tells the ECU where the camshaft is during engine rotation, so fuel injection and ignition timing happen at the correct moment. Without this signal, the engine cannot run smoothly or start reliably.

Why This Part Is Needed ?

The ECU uses camshaft data together with crankshaft information to control spark, injector pulse, idle quality, and starting performance. A good sensor helps keep power delivery stable, reduces fuel waste, and supports clean combustion.

How It Works ⚑

Inside the sensor is an electronic pickup that reads movement from the camshaft trigger. As the cam rotates, the sensor sends a timing signal to the engine control unit. The ECU then adjusts injection and ignition with precise timing for each cylinder.

Signs of a Broken Sensor ?

Common faults include:

  • Hard starting or no start
  • Engine misfire or rough idle
  • Poor acceleration
  • Check engine light on
  • Higher fuel consumption
  • Engine stalling when hot

Replacing a weak or failed sensor restores correct engine timing signals and helps protect other ignition and fuel system parts from unnecessary stress.
