Cylinder Head Camshaft Thrust Housing
This precision camshaft thrust housing keeps the cam centered in the cylinder head, holds oil where it belongs, and preserves accurate valve timing. Built to OEM-grade specs, it stabilizes the valvetrain under heat, load, and high RPM—ideal for hardworking Mitsubishi trucks and SUVs.
Why you need it ️
It limits camshaft end-play, reduces wear on journals, keeps timing gear or belt alignment true, and maintains oil pressure around the cam. The result is smooth idle, clean power delivery, and longer life of seals, chain/belt, and bearings.
How it works ⚙️
Bolted to the cylinder head, the housing provides a hardened thrust face and precise bore that guides the cam. Machined oil passages feed the cam journals, while a gasket or sealant prevents leaks. Proper torque and clean mating surfaces are essential for a leak‑free, quiet top end.
If it’s worn or broken ⚠️
Expect top-end tapping, unstable idle, timing drift, oil seepage at the head front, metal glitter in oil, and possible cam/crank correlation codes. Severe wear can cause misfire, poor economy, or even valve-to-piston contact. Replace at first signs of scoring, grooves, or leakage.
