Thermostat Assembly for Mitsubishi Cooling System ️

Why this part is needed

Your engine must warm up quickly, then hold a steady operating temperature. This thermostat meters coolant flow between block and radiator, giving fast warm-up, stable heater performance, clean emissions, and solid fuel economy. A fresh unit protects the head gasket, hoses, and alloy parts from heat stress.

How it works βš™οΈ

Inside sits a wax-pellet element. As coolant reaches the calibrated temperature, the wax expands and pushes a piston to open the valve, sending hot coolant to the radiator. When cooler, the valve closes to recirculate through the engine. A precision spring, seat, and gasket ensure tight sealing and zero bypass until it’s needed.

What happens if it’s broken

Stuck closed: rapid overheating, boiling, warped head, blown gasket. Stuck open: slow warm-up, weak cabin heat, rich mixture, high fuel use, carbon buildup, possible check engine light. Leaky or lazy action causes temperature swings, harsh fan cycling, and premature coolant pump wear.

Tech tips

Install with a new seal, correct orientation (jiggle pin up if fitted), fresh coolant, and bleed air. Inspect hoses and cap; replace if aged.
