Rear Axle Oil Seal — OEM ref. M053-27-165

This precision oil seal protects the rear axle and differential by keeping gear oil inside and road dust outside. It is engineered for Mazda platforms where a durable lip seal is needed on the axle shaft. A healthy seal stops leaks, preserves bearings, and ensures quiet, smooth driveline operation.

Why you need it ️

Axle bearings and gears survive on clean oil. If oil escapes, heat rises and parts wear fast. This seal locks in lubricant, helps pressure control, and guards brakes from contamination.

How it works

An elastomer lip with a garter spring hugs the axle journal. Micro ribs pump oil inward while the outer shell locks into the housing. Quality rubber (NBR/FKM) and a rigid case keep the lip stable under heat, speed, and axle movement.

Replacement tips ✅

Inspect axle shaft for grooves; polish or sleeve if needed. Clear the diff breather to avoid pressure blow-out. Lightly oil the lip and press the seal square to depth with a driver—never hammer the inner lip. After install, fill the differential to spec and road-test.
