Information

Power Steering Rack Seal Kit for Smooth, Leak‑Free Steering

This premium seal kit restores tight, quiet steering by stopping fluid leaks inside the rack-and-pinion. If your wheel feels heavy, you spot red fluid under the car, or hear a pump whine, the internal seals are worn. Refreshing the seals protects the pump, keeps the gear precise, and prevents costly rack replacement.

How It Works ⚙️

Inside the power steering gear, O‑rings, lip seals, and dust seals hold hydraulic pressure and keep contamination out. These seals separate high‑pressure chambers so the piston can push the rack left or right when you turn the wheel. Proper sealing keeps the assist strong and the steering feel consistent.

Why You Need It ️

  • Stops fluid leaks and foaming
  • Restores assist and on‑center feel
  • Prevents pump damage and noise
  • Extends rack service life

What Happens If Seals Fail

Loss of assist, hard steering, pump whine, uneven assist left/right, and fluid on boots. Ongoing leaks can burn the pump, contaminate bushings, and lead to unsafe wandering or jerky input.

Tech Notes

Use the correct PS fluid, inspect inner tie rod boots, center the rack before teardown, and torque to spec. An alignment is recommended after reassembly.
