LH Front Drive Shaft Oil Seal for Toyota Transaxle
This precision seal sits where the left CV axle enters the gearbox. Its job is simple but critical: keep transmission/gear oil in, and keep dust and water out. A healthy seal protects differential bearings, clutch packs (in AT), and the inner CV joint. It is a must-replace item whenever the axle is removed, or when you see oil mist around the inner joint.
Why you need it
Leaks starve the transmission of lubrication, raise temperatures, and invite grit that chews the axle journal. Swapping in a fresh LH axle seal restores proper fluid retention, preserves shift quality, and stops driveway spots. It also prevents ABS sensor fouling from oily dirt.
How it works
A steel-cased body anchors in the housing. The primary elastomer lip, backed by a garter spring, rides the axle surface and holds a micro oil film for sealing at speed. A secondary dust lip blocks road debris. Quality compounds (NBR/FKM) resist heat, additives, and road splash for long life. βοΈ
