This precision front main seal keeps engine oil where it belongs: inside the block. It sits in the timing cover and hugs the crankshaft snout, blocking oil from escaping around the crank pulley area. Clean sealing protects belts, sensors, and the road beneath your car while preserving proper lubrication and oil pressure.

Without a healthy seal, oil mist and drips foul the serpentine or timing belt, soften rubber parts, and invite premature wear. A correct-fit, heat‑resistant seal maintains engine cleanliness, reduces maintenance costs, and safeguards long‑term reliability.

How it works ️

A flexible elastomer lip, backed by a garter spring, maintains steady contact with the crankshaft. Micro ribs return oil inward as the shaft spins. The outer shell locks into the cover, while the inner lip rides the polished journal to contain hot, high‑speed oil. Quality materials (NBR/FKM/PTFE) resist heat, additives, and vibration.

When it fails

  • Fresh oil at the crank pulley or lower cover
  • Burning‑oil smell, belt slip, or squeal
  • Falling oil level; risk of bearing damage
  • Contaminated timing/drive belt and tensioners
  • Persistent leak if the crank has a wear groove
