Air‑Fuel Ratio Sensor (Wideband) for Toyota

This upstream A/F sensor precisely reports the mixture so the ECU can keep your Toyota engine in the ideal 14.7:1 range. It improves throttle response, fuel economy, and protects the catalytic converter. If your original sensor aged or got contaminated, this premium wideband unit restores correct fuel trims and clean emissions.

Why this part is needed

The engine computer constantly adjusts injectors based on this sensor’s feedback. Accurate data means smooth idle, strong power, and low fuel use. It’s critical for cold starts, highway cruising, and passing emissions tests.

How it works ⚙️

Mounted before the catalytic converter, the wideband cell measures oxygen content and creates a control current that reflects the real air‑fuel ratio (lambda). An internal heater brings it to temperature within seconds for fast, stable readings, allowing precise closed‑loop control across the entire load range.

What happens when it fails ❗

  • Check Engine Light, rich/lean codes, poor MPG
  • Rough idle, hesitation, weak acceleration
  • Black exhaust, sulfur smell, catalyst damage risk

Tech notes & tips

Locate upstream (Bank 1 Sensor 1 on most setups). Fix vacuum leaks and exhaust leaks first. Use anti‑seize on threads (avoid sensing tip). Clear trims after install and perform a short drive cycle for relearn.
