How it works βοΈ
Inside the brass body sits an NTC thermistor. As coolant warms, resistance drops. The ECU reads the changing voltage from a 5V reference and converts it into an exact temperature value. That signal guides cold-start enrichment, glow plug time, fan activation, and protection limits.
If it fails
Expect hard cold starts, rich running, rough idle, poor MPG, black smoke, weak power, fan stuck on or off, and warning lights (ECT codes). In severe cases: overheating and possible head gasket damage.
