This small probe keeps your air conditioning stable and safe. It measures the evaporator fin temperature and tells the HVAC controller when to cool and when to pause. Why you need it
Without accurate temperature feedback, the system can overcool and freeze the core, or undercool and blow lukewarm air. A correct reading protects the compressor, improves fuel economy, and maintains clear windows.
How it works
It is an NTC thermistor clipped to the evaporator. As temperature drops, resistance rises. The HVAC module reads this change and cycles the compressor or adjusts capacity to hold the fins around 2β6Β°C, preventing ice and pressure spikes.
What happens if it fails
Warm or erratic cooling, compressor short-cycling or never stopping, iced evaporator with weak airflow, foggy glass, hissing noises, A/C fault codes, and higher fuel use.

Access via glove box on most cars. Unclip the old probe from the case slot, seat the new tip fully into the evaporator channel, route the lead away from the blower, and lock the connector. Avoid bending fins. Clear codes and run A/C self-learn if available. β οΈ Disconnect battery before work.
