Vehicle Speed Pulse Sensor Assembly for Subaru
This OEM-grade speed pulse unit feeds exact road-speed data to the ECU, instrument cluster, AWD/ABS logic, and cruise control. It keeps shifting smooth, the speedometer honest, and driveline control smart. Designed to handle heat, vibration, and road splash, itβs a direct-fit solution for daily drivers and performance builds alike.
Why this part is needed
Modern Subaru systems depend on precise speed signals. The ECU uses it for fueling and idle stability, the TCU for shift timing, ABS/traction for stability, and cruise control to hold target speed. Without a clean signal, everything downstream suffers.
How it works
The sensor reads a toothed wheel in the gearbox using a Hall-effect element. As teeth pass, it outputs a clean square-wave pulse. The vehicle computer converts these pulses into km/h or mph and shares the data with dash and control modules.
What happens if itβs broken β οΈ
- Dead or jumping speedometer
- Harsh or late shifts, limp mode on automatics
- ABS/traction or AWD warning lights; cruise disabled
- Poor idle control, higher fuel use; DTC like P0500
Install tips
Mounted on the transmission case. Disconnect battery, unplug the connector, remove the hold-down bolt, and pull straight out. Lube the new O-ring, seat fully, torque the bolt, and reconnect. Clear codes and road-test.
