Trunk Lid & Fuel Flap Release Cable Assembly

This release cable links your cabin lever to the rear latch and fuel door opener. It is needed to open the trunk and gas filler flap quickly, especially in bad weather or when the locks are under load. A smooth cable also prevents you from forcing panels and breaking clips.

How it works ⚙️

When you pull the interior handle, the inner wire slides inside a protected outer sheath. That movement pulls the latch lever, releasing the trunk lid and/or fuel flap mechanism. The sheath keeps the pull force straight, while the end fittings hold tension and alignment.

Signs of failure and what happens if it breaks

If the cable stretches, frays, or binds, the handle may feel stiff, loose, or it may not return properly. When the cable snaps, the trunk or fuel door can stay stuck closed, making refueling difficult and access to the spare tire or luggage impossible. Continued use with a damaged cable can also wear the latch and bracket mounts.
