Ignition/Starter Switch Unit
Essential for safe, reliable starts on your Toyota. This OEM-grade ignition switch routes battery power from the key to the starter motor and vehicle circuits. Fresh, tight contacts restore stable voltage delivery and a crisp key feel, improving cold and hot starts.
Why you need it βοΈ
Hard starting, flickering dash lights, or needing to wiggle the key means the internal tracks are worn or pitted. Replacing the switch prevents random stalls, protects the ECU and relays from low-voltage arcing, and ends intermittent no-crank issues.
How it works
Mounted behind the lock cylinder on the steering column, it turns with the key. Spring-loaded sliders bridge circuits for ACC, ON, and START. In START, it feeds the starter relay while cutting ACC to maximize voltage to the motor.

Expect intermittent no-start, dead accessories, stuck key positions, melted connector, or sudden engine cut-out. Driving like this can overheat wiring, drain the battery, and leave you stranded.
Install tips β
Disconnect battery, remove column shrouds, align the drive tab with the lock barrel, tighten screws evenly, and test all positions before reassembly.
