Rear Shock Absorber Bushing (Mount Isolator)

This rear suspension bushing is a small but critical rubber-to-metal isolator that sits at the shock mounting point. It is needed to stop vibration, noise, and harsh impact from traveling from the rear shock into the body of the car.

How it works

When the shock absorber moves up and down, the bushing flexes and cushions the load. It keeps the shock centered, absorbs micro‑shocks, and allows controlled movement without metal-to-metal contact. A quality bushing also helps the shock do its real job—controlling spring bounce—by keeping the mount tight and stable.

What happens if it’s worn or broken ⚠️

If the bushing cracks, collapses, or separates, you may hear clunking over bumps, feel rear-end looseness, and notice uneven tire wear. The shock can shift in the mount, stressing brackets and hardware, reducing ride control, and in severe cases damaging the mount area.
