Front Hood Weatherstrip for Upper Core Support
This seal closes the gap between the hood and the upper radiator support. It is needed to guide air through the radiator and condenser, keep water and dust out of the engine bay, and cut wind noise. A fresh, tight weatherstrip helps cooling efficiency, protects wiring and belts from debris, and reduces vibration at highway speed. It’s a small part with big impact on comfort and reliability.
How it works ️
Made from heat‑resistant EPDM foam and rubber, it compresses when the hood is shut, forming a continuous barrier. That barrier prevents hot under‑hood air from recirculating to the front and forces incoming air through the A/C condenser and radiator core. Less turbulence, better airflow, quieter cabin.
When damaged or missing ⚠️
Expect higher coolant temps in traffic, weaker A/C at idle, dusty engine bay, and water tracks near the latch. You may hear wind buffeting and see hood edge flutter. Long term, dirt can abrade paint and corrode clips. Replace if the strip is torn, hardened, or detached.
Install & tips
Direct-fit piece. Pull old clips, align tabs, press in firmly. Clean the support edge before fitting. Typical install: 10–15 minutes.
