This upper cushion supports the rear of the body on the frame, isolating vibration and road shock. It keeps panel gaps true, helps the tailgate close cleanly, and protects welds and seams when the chassis flexes off-road. On heavy SUVs like Land Cruiser series, a healthy mount means less shake, less noise, and a longer-lasting body shell.
Why you need it ️
Body-on-frame vehicles rely on rubber cushions to separate the cabin from the ladder frame. Without a good upper cushion, bumps transfer straight into the cargo floor, the bumper line sags, and towing loads can twist the rear body. This part restores ride comfort and alignment.
How it works
The cushion sits above the rear crossmember mount, paired with a lower bushing and a through-bolt sleeve. Its rubber compound compresses to absorb impact, centers the sleeve to prevent metal-to-metal contact, and rebounds to hold the set height. The profile spreads load across the mount face and resists oil, ozone, and road salt.
If the cushion is worn or broken
Expect clunks over bumps, cargo area buzz, tailgate misalignment, uneven body-to-frame gap, and exhaust tapping the floor. Steering feel may worsen from extra chassis shake. In severe cases the body tilts on the frame, bolts loosen, and seams can crack.
Tech tips ️
Replace in pairs at the rear, support the body with a jack and wood block, note any shims, clean the sleeve, and torque the bolt at normal ride height. Recheck fasteners after 100 km.
