Power Steering Gear Housing Seal Kit

This seal kit is needed to keep hydraulic fluid sealed inside the power steering gear housing, so the steering stays light, smooth, and predictable. It is a critical wear item on many Nissan steering racks/gear units because pressure, heat, and age slowly harden rubber sealing lips.

How It Works ⚙️

Inside the steering gear, high-pressure fluid moves valves and pistons to assist your steering input. The seals in this kit sit around shafts, ports, and housing joints to hold pressure where it belongs and block dirt and moisture from entering. When correctly installed, it maintains proper hydraulic pressure and prevents internal bypass.

What Happens If You Ignore a Broken Seal Kit ?

Worn seals lead to pressure loss and air entering the system, causing poor steering assist and noisy operation. Continued leaking can damage the pump, contaminate bushings, and accelerate wear inside the steering gear. In severe cases, steering feel becomes inconsistent and unsafe, and repairs become much more expensive than replacing the seals early.
