Front Caliper Piston – OE 47731-60040

Restore confident braking with this precision front brake caliper piston. It converts hydraulic pressure into clamping force, pushing the pad onto the rotor every time you hit the pedal . Made from hardened, corrosion‑resistant steel with a mirror finish, it glides in the caliper bore and seals tightly to hold pressure.

Why you need it

Old pistons can rust, pit, or score. That leads to pad drag, uneven wear, a soft or sinking pedal, and fluid leaks. A fresh piston brings back straight-line stops, even pad contact, and stable pedal feel.

How it works

Pressure from the master cylinder moves the piston outward. The square-cut seal flexes to allow motion, then gently pulls the piston back on release to prevent drag. The dust boot keeps water and grit out ️.

What happens if it’s damaged

Sticking piston: steering pull, hot pads, glazed or warped rotors. Leaking piston: longer stopping distance, warning light, contaminated pads. Severe corrosion can seize the wheel and ruin the caliper and rotor.

Tech tips

  • Always replace seal and dust boot together; use brake assembly grease only.
  • Check the bore; replace the caliper if it’s deeply pitted.
  • Bleed system with fresh DOT 3/4 fluid and torque guide pins correctly .
