Rear Drum Parking Brake Shoe Lever Assembly (RH/LH)
This small lever is a big safety part inside the rear drum parking brake. It is needed to transfer the pull from the parking brake cable into the brake shoe mechanism, so the shoes expand and lock the rear wheels when you park ️.
How It Works
When you pull the handbrake, the cable pulls this lever. The lever pivots on its pin and pushes/spreads the parking brake shoe link, forcing the shoes outward against the drum. Correct leverage and smooth movement give a strong hold with a normal handbrake stroke.
Why Replacing Matters
With age, the lever can wear at the contact points, bend, crack, or seize from rust and brake dust. If it’s damaged, the parking brake may feel loose, not hold on slopes, or drag slightly and overheat the drum. In worst cases, you can lose parking brake function and risk vehicle roll-away ⚠️.
