Parking Brake Shoe Actuator Lever RH/LH for Toyota
This precision steel arm links the handbrake cable to the rear shoe set inside the drum-in-hat rotor. It is essential for safe parking, hill holds, and inspection compliance. Correct geometry ensures even shoe spread and a firm, short pedal/handle stroke.
Why you need it βοΈ
Without a healthy actuator lever, the parking system cannot clamp the shoes with enough force. You get weak holding power, extra travel, and uneven wear. A fresh lever restores solid lock and predictable engagement.
How it works
Pull the handle or press the foot pedal and the cable tugs this arm. The lever pivots on its post, pushes the strut/adjuster, and expands the shoes against the inner drum surface. Releasing the cable lets the return springs retract the shoes, freeing the wheel.
What happens if itβs broken β οΈ
Bent ears, seized pivot, or an oval cable hole cause long travel, drag, hot smells, squeal, and scoring of the drum. In severe cases the vehicle may roll on a slope. You may notice uneven rear wheel temperature and clicking when applied.
Installation notes β
Match RH/LH orientation. Clean the pivot area, lightly lube with high-temp brake grease (not on linings), renew springs and the adjuster if worn, and set the star wheel to slight drag, then back off. Verify equal cable tension and bed-in the shoes.
Quality and fitment
Stamped, heat-treated steel with corrosion protection, built to OE-spec geometry for Toyota drum-in-hat rears. Direct fit, no modification. Compare to your VIN and OEM references before purchase.
