Rear Wheel Drum Brake Cylinder Assembly RH/LH

This OE-grade hydraulic unit sits inside the rear drum and pushes the brake shoes outward. It’s designed for either right or left side, giving a precise, leak-free response so your pedal feels firm and stopping distances stay short. Perfect for restoring dependable braking on vehicles using rear drum setups.

How it works βš™οΈ

When you press the pedal, fluid pressure travels through the line into this cylinder. Two opposed pistons, sealed by EPDM cups, slide outward and force the shoes against the drum. A return spring brings everything back when you release. The bleeder screw at the top lets trapped air out for a solid pedal.

Why it’s needed βœ…

Fresh cylinders keep fluid inside, apply even force, and prevent pull, noise, and hot spots. They protect shoes and drums from uneven wear and keep ABS and proportioning action predictable.

If it’s worn or broken ⚠️

  • Soft or sinking pedal, longer stopping distance
  • Brake fluid leakage at the backing plate
  • Pull to one side, pulsation, overheated drum
  • Contaminated shoes, reduced handbrake hold

Install tips

Mount with bleeder upward, center the shoes, and secure the line without twisting. After fitting, bleed the circuit and adjust the star wheel for slight shoe drag. Use DOT 3/4 fresh fluid, clean mating surfaces, and re-check for leaks after a short road test.
