Front Right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor • OE ref 4670A190

This sensor feeds the brake computer with exact wheel speed from the front passenger side. It is needed to keep ABS, traction control, and stability systems working. With clean data, your SUV brakes straight, holds grip on wet roads, and keeps 4WD control steady. It is a small part with a big safety role ️.

How it works ⚙️

The sensor reads a magnetic/reluctor ring on the hub. As the wheel turns, the ring’s teeth pass the sensor tip and create a pulsating signal. The control unit converts this into speed. It balances brake pressure, manages traction, and talks to the transmission and 4WD. A tight air gap and clean tip are key for precise readings.

What happens if it fails ❗

ABS and traction lamps turn on. Emergency braking distance grows on slippery roads. Traction and stability control are disabled. Speed readouts may jump. Some models show harsh shifts or 4WD lock/unlock issues. You may also hear ABS pump cycling or feel brake pulsation at low speeds.

Tech notes and install tips

Check the hub ring for rust or cracks. Route the harness in factory clips, away from the tire. Torque the retaining bolt gently; do not hammer the sensor. Clear stored fault codes and test drive. If the old sensor was seized, inspect bearing play—excess play can kill a new sensor fast.
