Steering Rack Dust Boot (No.1) β Keep Your Steering Smooth οΈ
This protective boot is a small but critical seal for the steering rack area. Its main job is to keep road dust, water, and grit away from the rack bar and inner joint. When the steering system stays clean, it stays quiet, accurate, and long-lasting.
Why This Part Is Needed
The steering rack works in a harsh zone near the wheels. Without a tight boot, contamination reaches the moving rack surfaces and lubricant. This leads to faster wear and heavier steering feel.
How It Works
The flexible rubber sleeve expands and contracts as you turn the wheel. It holds grease in place and blocks dirt out. Clamps at both ends keep the seal firm during suspension travel and sharp steering inputs.
What Happens If Itβs Broken
A torn boot can cause grease leakage, clicking or knocking noises, and moisture intrusion. Over time, inner joint play and rack damage may followβoften ending in expensive rack repair or replacement.
