Steering Rack Support Bushing for Toyota β€” Precise, Quiet Steering

This small but critical rubber mount holds the steering rack steady inside its housing. It reduces vibration, keeps the gear centered, and restores direct road feel. A fresh bushing is a smart fix for clunks and vague steering without replacing the whole rack.

Why you need it βœ…

Over time, heat, oil mist, and road shocks harden and crack the rubber. As the mount loosens, the rack can shift. You may feel play at the wheel, hear knocks on bumps, or notice wandering at speed. Replacing the bushing tightens the system and protects tires from uneven wear.

How it works

The bushing is pressed into the rack housing and hugs the rack body. Its engineered rubber (durometer) cushions impacts while locking the rack in alignment with the pinion. Under bolt load, it grips the housing, isolates noise, and keeps the steering geometry stable.

What happens if it’s worn or broken ⚠️

Expect clunking over potholes, kickback in the wheel, sloppy on-center feel, pulling or tramlining, and quick inner tire wear. Alignment won’t hold, and inner tie rods can wear early. Ignoring it can lead to rack misalignment and costly steering repairs.
