Power Steering Reservoir Cap for Vane‑Pump Systems

Why it’s needed

This cap seals the power steering oil tank, keeps dirt and moisture out, and maintains proper venting. With a reliable seal, fluid stays clean, level readings are accurate, and the vane pump runs quiet and strong. A good cap prevents aeration, reduces wear, and protects hoses and seals from pressure spikes.

How it works

A rugged polymer body with a heat‑resistant rubber gasket locks onto the reservoir neck. Inside, a calibrated micro‑vent equalizes pressure as fluid warms and cools . Some versions include a dipstick for quick checks. When the cap is tight, the pump draws fluid—not air—so assist pressure stays stable during steering.

What happens if broken

Cracks, a hardened gasket, or a loose fit let air in and fluid out: foamy oil, whining pump, heavy steering, wet cap area, and messy leaks. Over time, the pump overheats, vanes score, seals fail, and belts may get contaminated ⚠️.

Install and service tips

Clean the neck, lightly oil the O‑ring with approved PSF, seat and twist until it clicks. After topping up, run engine and turn lock‑to‑lock; recheck for bubbles and drips. Replace at first signs of warping or a clogged vent.
