Information

Rear Left Wheel Brake Cylinder Assembly

Restore confident stopping power with a fresh rear LH wheel brake cylinder for drum-brake axles. This hydraulic unit converts pedal force into even pressure on the brake shoes, giving stable, straight-line braking under load. Built with corrosion-resistant cast body, precision pistons, and durable seals, it’s a direct bolt-on replacement for work trucks and minibuses. Perfect for routine overhauls or when a leak shows up on the backing plate.

Why you need it

A healthy wheel cylinder keeps hydraulic pressure sealed, ensures even shoe contact, reduces stopping distance, and protects the brake lining from fluid contamination. It also helps the parking brake hold more consistently on grades.

How it works

When you press the pedal, fluid from the master cylinder enters this unit. Pressure pushes two opposed pistons outward, forcing the shoes against the drum. Return springs retract the shoes when released. A bleed screw allows air removal after install.

If it’s faulty ⚠️

Expect soft or sinking pedal, longer stops, vehicle pull to one side, wet streaks or dust caked with fluid, uneven rear shoe wear, dragging wheel, overheating, and low fluid level. Ignoring it risks brake failure. Replace, torque lines carefully, and bleed until clean, bubble‑free fluid flows. ✅
