Information

Rear Wheel Brake Cylinder for Nissan Pickups and SUVs

This hydraulic unit sits on the rear drum backing plate and turns brake fluid pressure into steady shoe movement. A new cylinder restores even rear braking, firm pedal feel, and confident stopping on daily drivers, work utes, and trail rigs.

Why you need it ️

Time, rust, and heat wear the bore and seals. Replacing it stops fluid leaks, keeps braking balanced, protects the master cylinder from over-travel, and reduces stopping distance. It’s a small part with big safety impact.

How it works βš™οΈ

Press the pedal and fluid from the master cylinder fills the chamber. Twin pistons push each shoe outward against the drum. When you release, return springs pull the shoes back and the pistons retract. Dust boots block grit, and a bleeder screw lets you purge air for a crisp pedal.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

  • Wet backing plate or inside drum (fluid leak)
  • Soft, low, or sinking brake pedal
  • Pulls to one side under braking, uneven rear wear
  • Longer stopping distance, hot drum smell
  • Brake warning light from fluid loss

Install tips

Replace in axle pairs, clean the drum, adjust shoes, use fresh DOT 3/4 fluid, bleed thoroughly, and tighten line fittings gently to avoid stripped threads.
