Rear Axle Shaft Oil Seal – OE‑grade for Nissan Trucks
Keep your differential healthy and your brakes clean with a high‑precision rear axle shaft oil seal. This part locks gear oil inside the axle tube and blocks dust, mud, and water from getting in. Built with a steel‑reinforced shell and heat‑resistant elastomer, it delivers a tight, long‑lasting seal for daily driving, towing, and off‑road use.
Why you need it ️
The seal keeps the axle bearing lubricated and protects the brake assembly. Without it, gear oil escapes, bearings run dry, and contaminants attack metal surfaces—shortening the life of the axle and differential.
How it works ⚙️
Press‑fit into the axle housing, the inner lip rides on the axle shaft while a garter spring maintains constant tension. A secondary dust lip shields from debris. A micro oil film forms between lip and shaft, reducing friction and pumping oil back inward to stop seepage.
If the seal fails
Signs include wet backing plates, gear‑oil smell, oily shoes or parking brake, brake fade, wheel‑end humming, and diff whine. Driving like this can overheat bearings, ruin brake friction, and lead to ring‑and‑pinion damage.
Tech notes ️
Replace in pairs when possible, inspect the axle vent, verify shaft surface is smooth, and install square with a seal driver and light gear‑oil film.
