Inner Steering Knuckle Oil Seal for Toyota Front Axle

This inner knuckle oil seal keeps differential oil and swivel-hub grease where they belong. It locks out water, mud, and dust while sealing around the axle shaft. The result: smooth steering, quiet CV/Birfield operation, and long life for knuckle and trunnion bearings.

Why you need it

On heavy-duty 4x4s, the front axle works hard. Without this seal, oil and grease mix or escape, contaminants enter, and the swivel area wears fast. A healthy seal preserves lubrication balance and protects the entire hub assembly.

How it works βš™οΈ

A sprung rubber lip rides on the machined axle surface, maintaining a micro film of oil for friction control. Pressed squarely into the knuckle housing, it separates diff oil from knuckle grease and maintains pressure during steering and suspension travel.

Signs of failure

Wet swivel ball, grease streaks on backing plate, oil drips at the tire, steering shimmy, humming from the front end, water intrusion after river crossings.

If left broken ❌

Trunnion/kingpin bearing wear, pitted CV joints, diluted diff oil, rusted axle shaft, brake contamination, and costly hub rebuilds.

Pro fitting tips βœ…

Clean and polish the seal land, lightly oil the lip, press in square with a driver, torque knuckle hardware evenly, pack hub with quality moly grease, and ensure the axle breather is clear to prevent pressure blow-by.
