Rear Wheel Bearing Dust Shield (RH/LH) for Toyota vans and MPVs
Why this part is needed ️
This shield protects the rear wheel bearing, hub, and ABS tone area from water, mud, and road grit. It keeps grease clean, reduces corrosion, and helps the brake area stay dry. With a good deflector in place, bearings run cooler and last longer, brake performance stays stable, and noise is kept low.
How it works ⚙️
The plate mounts behind the rear hub and forms a “labyrinth” barrier with the hub flange. As the wheel turns, the deflector throws away debris by centrifugal force and blocks splash from reaching the bearing seal. Its coated steel resists heat, rust, and stone impacts. The same design serves right or left side for balanced protection.
What happens if it’s broken ❗
When bent, missing, or rusted through, water and grit enter the bearing. Expect early bearing wear, humming or rumbling while driving, ABS light or erratic readings, and faster rotor/pad corrosion. In wet or salty climates, failure can appear quickly and may seize hardware during future service.
Fitting tips
Replace when the hub is off (ideal during bearing or brake work). Clean the knuckle face, seat the shield flat, and torque to spec. Check clearance—no rubbing on rotor. Add anti-seize on fasteners and apply rust protection to extend life.
