Rear Brake Dust Shield / Baffle Plate ️

This metal shield sits behind the brake rotor to control airflow and block road splash. It’s needed to keep braking smooth and consistent, especially in rain, slush, or dusty roads. By guiding air around the disc, it helps stabilize brake temperature and reduces contamination reaching the pads and rotor surface.

How It Works ✅

The plate mounts to the knuckle/hub area and forms a barrier between the spinning rotor and the wheel well. It deflects water, stones, and brake dust away from critical braking surfaces, while also helping direct cooling air where it matters most.

When It’s Damaged ⚠️

If bent, cracked, or rusted through, it may scrape the rotor and create a constant metallic noise. A broken shield can also let debris hit the rotor, leading to scoring, faster pad wear, vibration, and reduced braking confidence in wet conditions.
