Front Knuckle Grease Barrier for Nissan 4x4 ️
This precision lip seal sits between the steering knuckle and hub flange, keeping wheel bearing grease clean and inside while blocking mud, sand, and water. Off‑road use, towing, and deep‑water crossings put big stress on this area; a healthy seal protects bearings, CV joints, and the swivel housing, extending service life and keeping your 4x4 quiet and tight.
Why it’s needed
Grease must stay in, contaminants must stay out. This seal maintains lubrication pressure around the hub/knuckle, stopping premature bearing wear and play. It also reduces corrosion of the spindle and stub axle.
How it works ⚙️
A metal‑cased ring with an oil‑spring loaded NBR lip presses into the knuckle flange. The lip rides on the mating surface, forming a flexible barrier that follows steering and suspension movement without tearing. Proper fit and correct orientation are critical.
If it fails
You may see grease sling on rims, wet dust shields, grinding or humming at speed, vague steering, ABS light (from contamination), and rusty bearings. Continued driving risks bearing collapse, heat damage to the hub, and costly knuckle rebuilds.
Replacement tips
Clean the bore, inspect the flange surface, lightly oil the lip, press squarely with a driver, and torque hub hardware to spec. Pair with fresh wheel bearings and knuckle grease for best results.
