Rear Axle Bearing Inner Retainer for Mitsubishi Pickups ️

This hardened steel collar secures the rear wheel bearing on the axle shaft, keeping preload correct and the hub running true. It supports the inner race, protects the oil seal seat, and maintains alignment under heavy load. Built for tough use, ideal for work and off‑road trucks .

Why you need it

Axle bearings face strong radial and axial forces. The retainer prevents the bearing from walking on the shaft, keeps endfloat in spec, and helps seal in differential oil. Without it, the hub can wobble, brakes can get contaminated, and tire wear increases.

How it works

The collar is heated and press‑fitted against the bearing’s inner race . As it cools, it shrinks and clamps the shaft with high grip. Together with the backing plate and seal, it locks the axle stack, keeps the wheel centerline stable, and ensures quiet, smooth rotation.

What happens if it fails

A cracked or loose retainer lets the bearing spin on the shaft: humming noise, wheel play, hot hub, and gear oil leaks appear. Left unchecked, it can score the axle, damage the seal seat, affect braking, and even risk wheel lock‑up ⚠️.

Install tips

Always replace the retainer with the bearing; never reuse. Heat to 120–150°C for fit, press squarely, do not torch the bearing. Renew the oil seal, check endplay, and torque fasteners to spec ✅.
