Why this part is needed
This fork guides the shift sleeve to lock a chosen gear on the main shaft. It keeps the sleeve centered, prevents half‑engagement, and delivers precise, smooth shifts. If you want crisp gear changes, silent engagement, and longer synchronizer life, a healthy selector fork is essential.
How it works
Mounted on a shift rail, the fork rides inside grooves of the synchronizer sleeve. When you move the lever, the rail slides and the fork pushes the sleeve over the baulk ring to couple the gear. Hardened contact pads and exact fork offset ensure even pressure, correct alignment, and minimal friction. Proper geometry protects the hub, keys, and rings.
What happens if it’s damaged
Worn or bent ears cause grinding, notchiness, or popping out of gear under load. You may feel a stiff lever, smell hot oil, or find metallic dust in the pan. Continued use can burn synchros, chip dog teeth, and crack the sleeve—turning a small fix into a full rebuild.
